Making the Complex Clear
Complex ideas deserve clear storytelling.
I work with researchers, technologists, and institutional leaders to translate advanced concepts into visual narratives that are accurate, human, and compelling. My role often begins with subject-matter experts and dense material, and ends with a story that audiences can understand without losing depth or credibility.
Below are selected projects focused on research and technical communication.

Unicorn Black Holes
Ohio State Research Story
When astronomers identified what they believed to be the closest known black hole to Earth, the discovery required careful explanation. I collaborated with researchers to develop the visual system, structure, and animation approach that clarified how scientists detect something that cannot be seen directly.
The video was later featured by major media outlets covering the discovery, extending the reach of the research to a global audience.
I also provided voice-over narration, shaping tone and pacing to align with the scientific clarity of the story.

Motion Science – High Tech Telescopes
Ohio State Research Story
This piece explores how Ohio State researchers test and refine next-generation telescope technologies before they are deployed. Working from technical interviews and written materials, I developed the visual framework and animation system to explain complex optical systems and instrumentation in an accessible way.
I provided voice-over for the final piece, reinforcing a confident and informative tone throughout.

Unlocking a Simpler Way
Quantum Key Distribution
After meeting with a senior scientist for an intensive crash course in quantum key distribution, I translated advanced concepts in data security and quantum communication into a long-form animated explainer.
The challenge was maintaining technical accuracy while making the implications understandable to broader audiences. I wrote the script, developed the visual language, and executed the animation to create a cohesive narrative around a highly specialized subject.

Getting to the Core of Climate Change
Ohio State Research Story
This project tells the story of climatologist Lonnie Thompson and decades of research extracting ice cores from high-altitude glaciers around the world. The work required balancing scientific authority with emotional weight, as the data reveals clear evidence of long-term climate change.
I developed the visual storytelling approach, illustrated key scientific processes, and shaped the pacing of the piece to support both clarity and impact.
